Day 02 St. Francis of Assis
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will proceed for the sightseeing trip. Goa is best known for its spectacular beaches and luxurious hotels but there are many old churches, monuments, temples and museums, that are a must see. A very striking feature of Goa is the harmonious relationship among various religious communities, who have lived together peacefully for generations. You will visit Basilica of Bom Jesus, St Cathedral Church, Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Fontanhas and Dona Paula.
Born Jesus Basilica: The Bom Jesus Basilica or the Basilica of Bom Jesus is a nine Kilometers journey from the capital Panaji. The construction of historical church was completed in 1605. The church is dedicated to baby Jesus and considered as one of the most auspicious churches of the region. The 400 years old Basilica of Bom Jesus, Goa has been stated as one of the world heritage monuments.
Se Cathedral: Dedicated to St. Catherine, the Se Cathedral in Goa is considered as the largest church in Asia. Initially built modestly, the Se Cathedral went through several modifications and the wonderful church was completed in 1619. The church has been included in the list of UNESCO's world heritage buildings.
Se Cathedral:Goa's St. Francis of Assisi Church was built in the year 1521 and after almost five hundred years, the church holds immense religious and tourism importance in Goa. The church has witnessed many modifications over the years. The museum set up in 1964 inside the church complex is today one of its main attractions.
