GENERAL INFORMATION
We have included additional information, which we hope will be helpful for your journey on board The Indian Maharaja.

INTERNATIONAL / DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
As part of our seamless service, we are happy to provide information on flight fares and schedules, as well as provide assistance for bookings if required. Contact us at bookings@theindianmaharaja.com and we will be able to arrange discounted airfares thanks to our extensive network.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION before and after your journey
We recommend that you book a hotel the day before and after your journey. You can make hotel reservations through our website:

INSURANCE
The Indian Maharaja has been insured comprehensively for earthquakes, terrorism, fire and theft. An umbrella insurance cover provision has been made for all guests. We recommend that you have adequate personal travel insurance cover from your country of domicile for illness, injury, accident, death, loss of effects or luggage and holiday cancellation. All guests traveling with us must check-in on the dates of departure at 1500 hours in Mumbai and at 1800 hours in Delhi.

Any changes in check-in timing or location will be displayed on your travel documents and vouchers. These will either be e-mailed or sent to you in advance of the journey. Once you complete check-in you will be escorted to your cabin and assisted with anything that you require to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

VISA REQUIREMENTS

Visas are required by all visitors except those from Bhutan and Nepal. Visas are available for the following durations:-
  • Transit visa
  • 03/06 month visa
  • 01/05 year visa
  1. Each passport should be accompanied by the completed application form and three passport photographs.
  2. There should be at least there clear pages on the passport before the visa is issued.
  3. When applying for the visa at the Indian Embassy/High Commission, payment should be made in cash or postal order (cheques are normally not accepted) and a stamped self addressed envelope should be included. One month should be allowed for postel applications.
  4. Certain parts of India (mainly in the North East) are "restricted" and require special permits.
  5. Personal applications may be made to the Indian Embassy/High Commission.

What’s Included:
The price of your journey includes accommodation in double or twin bed cabins with en suite bathrooms, butler service, all meals and guided excursions as illustrated in the itinerary. It also includes complimentary mineral water, tea and coffee, butler services and baggage handling.

What’s Excluded:
Taxes, gratuities, telephone calls, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, laundry, still/video camera fees at various monuments, and arrival and departure transfers.

ATTIRE
We recommend smart casual clothing for dining in the restaurant cars. Comfortable clothes and suitable walking shoes are advised for sightseeing. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are all recommended. It is customary to be more formally dressed for special gala dinners. Do pack warm clothing with you if you are journeying with us during winter.

YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Travel Documents, valid only for the passenger(s) in whose name(s) the reservation(s) has/have been made, will be issued after the full payment has been made and not usually later than 14 days from the date of departure. You will need to bring your travel documents with you.

SPECIAL DIET
If you require a particular type of diet, do inform us when you book. We will make every effort to accommodate your culinary requests.

BAGGAGE ON-BOARD
Be aware that there is limited storage space inside your cabin so please don’t carry more than 2 medium sized, preferably soft-sided bags if possible.

SMOKING POLICY
In accordance with Indian Law smoking is not permissible on board the Indian Maharaja.

MOBILE PHONES
Being on a train journey, your cell phone’s reception may vary, but does improve when the train is nearing a station or if you are close to city areas. Kindly keep your mobile phone on silent mode when visiting monuments or in the public areas of the train in respect of fellow passengers.

YOUR HEALTH
You do not require any specific vaccinations to travel to India, though anti-malaria precautions are recommended and it is advisable that you consult your physician for any personal health advice based on your travel itinerary. If you are coming from a Yellow Fever endemic country, you must possess a Yellow Fever Vaccination certificate that conforms to international health regulations. If you have been prescribed medicines, do carry enough supplies to last till the end of your trip.

MINIMUM PASSENGER REQUIREMENT
All our journeys require a minimum number of passengers in order to proceed. In the highly unlikely event that there are less than the required minimum number of passengers, you will be given 30 days' advance notice and the option of a complete refund, alternate journey or alternate departure date.

CHILD POLICY
Children are welcome on the Indian Maharaja but we request that they respect the adult atmosphere in public areas and dining rooms. Babysitting is subject to availability.

Children below 5 years can travel free of charge if they share a bed with their parents. A more comfortable option is to have an extra bunk bed but this will cost $375 per night plus tax for children of any age. Bunk beds will be subject to availability at time of booking.

If two children are travelling with their parents, they can be accommodated in a separate cabin for a discounted rate for the first child of $375 per night and an adult fare for the second child. Do note that the cabins are not interconnected.

CHARTERS
The Indian Maharaja can be chartered to corporate companies, conferences, agencies and individuals for incentives, weddings or any other exclusive event. Group Bookings are eligible for special discounts. For further details write to bookings@theindianmaharaja.com.
